Booklets are the multi-page and multi-sheet documents.

  • The multiple-sheet-booklet is held together through the use of 2 staples that are placed on the spine of the booklet
  • The number of pages in a booklet is a multiple of 4. Each sheet of paper, after it is printed and folded in half, becomes a 4-page sheet. Many 4-page sheets binded with the staples will become your booklet.

Number of pages in a booklet:
  • How do you count the number of pages in a booklet? When the  booklet is closed (as when you  hold a magazine at a bookstore) each panel will be recognized as a page.
  • So the front cover is PAGE #1
  • The back side of the front cover will be identified, for the purpose of placing the order of a booklet, as PAGE #2,
  • The page that is opposite to the inside of the cover will be identified as PAGE #3 and so on.
  • In terms of the artwork, you are free to write the page number according to your design style

Customization of the booklet that you intend to print
  • There are several customization opportunities:
    1. Select the paper that you want to use for the inside of the booklet (all of the pages except the 4-page sheet that acts as a cover
    2.

#1 - How many pages? It is alwas a multiple of 4. Each side of your publication counts as one page, including the covers, back covers, etc. Just in the same way as regular books have the pages numbered

#2 - There are two options for the number of pages that I want. Which one should I choose?

You will find options that could feel confusing..
Let me bring some light into this question:

If you answer to the question with "8 pages" or "12 pages" etc, you are indicating that all of the sheets of paper involved in your booklet are of the same grade and nature.

If you indicate a response such as "8 pages: = 4 pages + Heavy Covers (4 pages)", the you are indicating that the inside pages will be printed on a different stock than the one used for the covers.

If you folllow a selection as described in the previous paragraph, you will be able to mae the choice of stock that is relevant to your project.

Which Paper Should I Choose?

  • 20# White Bond - Is usually known as COPY PAPER and it's the thinnest paper. There can be see through, especially when images are present or thick lines.
    • Recommended for 1-time use, non critical documents

  • 24/60# Shite Smooth - 92 bright / is a nicer uncoated paper. It is thicker, smoother and whiter.
    • Ideal for presentations, notebooks, product catalogs

  • 28/70# Super White Smooth - 96 bright / Thicker uncoated paper.
    • Photography will reproduce better because of the smoothness of the paper. Good for catalogs and where users might want to take notes. Minimal see-through

  • 32/80# Super White Smooth - 98 bright / Premium uncoated paper
    • This  paper is really nice. Feels thick and very high quality. This selection is ideal when you expect that the booklet will be saved for a long time.

  • 80# coated GLOSS or MATT Text /  This is the thinnest coated paper that we offer.
    • Its thickness compares with the previously mentioned 24/60 paper.
    • This is COATED paper, which means that the surface is very smooth, slightly shiny.
    • Prints better pictures and provides higher quality look-and-feel
    • Writing on top of it can be more difficult. This paper does not absorb ink into it's fiber so liquid inks do not dry fast

  • 100# coated GLOSS or MATT Text /  UPSCALE SELECTION - This is the thickest coated paper that we offer.
    • Its thickness compares with the previously mentioned 28 and 32 paper.
    • This is a robust paper, perfect to promote for high-end products or services. Most brochures are printed on this stock.

Depending on your selection to the question "How many pages are in your booklet?", you will be offered a number of  different stocks that can be used for the cover pages.

If you did not indicate that the covers are heavy covers, you won't have the opportunity to select a cover stock. if that is the case, please look up a couple of options and choose the number of pages where it indicates that a heavy cover is required.

There is bleed when the images or copy go right to the edge of the sheet.

It takes just one single side (or page) where bleed is required, for the whole publication to be consideerd full bleed.

Full bleed requires us to print in  a larger sheet, with ink that goes beyond the cut line, and then trim the booklets.

LIMITATIONS: We do not offer bleed on 20# paper. Therefore if you need bleed, please choose a different stock for your project.

If you have any questions, feel free to call us at 1-877-421-0668. during regular business hours. We operate on Eastern Standard Time

How the booklets should print.

Let's identify the parts that constitute a booklet. There are two different sections:

  • Section #1 - COVERS  - It is one sheet, folded in half and we identify within:
    • The front cover and its inside cover,
    • The back-cover its inside-back-cover

  • Section #2 - INSIDE OF THE BOOKLET. All of the inside pages (excluding the cover) are represented by this "INSIDE" term.
